COLUMBUS, Ohio-- Two members of the Ohio State women's soccer team were recently named to the All-Ohio Team for the 2000 season. Representing the Buckeyes are Lindsay Eckles (So., Hilliard, Ohio/Hilliard Davidson), a second-team All-Ohio selection, and third-team selection Elizabeth Moore (So., Centerville, Ohio/Centerville).
"We're excited to have both players recognized as being some of the best in the state of Ohio," Lori Walker, OSU's head coach, said. "Anytime that a player is recognized for their performances by another coach is a true honor."
Eckles played the forward position and led the team in scoring (10 goals) and points (24) for the second-consecutive season. She also added four assists and started all 19 games for the Buckeyes in 2000.
"Lindsay (Eckles) played up top (forward) for the second-consecutive year and continues to be a force in our attack," Walker said. "She had another great year for us."
Moore anchored the OSU defense and was a starter in 17 of the Buckeyes' 19 games this season.
"Lizzy (Moore) was our enforcer in the back," Walker said. "She had a consistent year and was probably one of the toughest defenders for anyone to get by."
Walker also credited her team.
"The team definitely contributed to these selections," Walker said. "I know both players would agree they wouldn't have been able to do it by themselves."
