Dec. 21, 2005
COLUMBUS, Ohio - Ohio State women's soccer players Lara Dickenmann, Melissa Miller and Lisa Collison were named to the 2005 Soccer Buzz Great Lakes Regional teams, as announced by Soccer Buzz Magazine Wednesday. Dickenmann and Miller were named to the second and third teams, respectively, while Collison earned All-Freshman honors.
Dickenmann (So., Kriens, Switzerland/Sursee), who saw action at forward and in the midfield in 2005, earned her second regional award in as many weeks, as she received third-team NSCAA All-Region accolades last week. This is Dickenmann's second-consecutive Soccer Buzz regional award. Dickenmann earned first-team regional honors her freshman year with the Buckeyes. During the 2005 season, Dickenmann recorded three goals and six assists for 12 points.
A mainstay in the backfield for Ohio State, Miller (Jr., Cincinnati, Ohio/Kolping) also collected her second all-regional laurel in 2005 after being named to the NSCAA All-Regional squad. Miller's Soccer Buzz Great Lakes honor is the third of her career. Miller earned first team all-regional laurels during her freshman and sophomore campaigns with Ohio State. Miller, the only Buckeye to start every match since 2003, also contributed to the offensive side of the pitch, tallying two goals and two assists for six points.
Collison (Niagara, Falls, Ontario/Burlington) was placed on the all-freshman team after leading the Buckeyes in goals (13) and points (29). Collison's 13 scores tied the OSU single-season goals record and she was just one point shy of joining teammates Danielle Dietrich (30), Dickenmann (38) and Lisa Grubb (34) as the only Buckeyes to compile 30 points in a season. In the final regular-season Big Ten standings, Collison was the top freshman in shots (75), shots per game (4.17), points (29), points per game (1.61), goals (13) and goals per game (0.72).
Soccer Buzz national awards will be announced Dec. 22.
