COLUMBUS, Ohio – Morgan Wolcott and Nikki Walts, seniors on the Ohio State women’s soccer team, have been named All-Americans by the United Soccer Coaches, the organization announced Thursday. Wolcott picked up second team All-America honors while Walts was named a third team All-American. Wolcott and Walts, who both were named first team All-Midwest Region selections Tuesday, become the first Buckeye All-Americans since Tiffany Cameron earned NSCAA second team All-America honors in 2012.
Wolcott, a three-time team captain, helped the Buckeyes to a 0.59 goals-against average and 10 shutouts while starting 18 matches at center back. The Milford, Ohio, native scored two goals and added an assist while being named Big Ten Defender of the Year, first team All-Big Ten and second team CoSIDA Academic All-District.
Walts was named Big Ten Midfielder of the Year and first team All-Big Ten in 2017, leading the team and ranking second in the conference with nine assists while starting all 21 matches. The team co-captain also earned second team CoSIDA Academic All-District honors and finished her career fourth on the Ohio State career assists list with 22.
The Buckeyes concluded the 2017 campaign with a 15-5-1 record and the first outright Big Ten championship in program history.
