Columbus, Ohio - Lara Dickenmann, the 2004 Big Ten Freshman of the Year, has been named a finalist for the 2004 Soccerbuzz.com Freshman of the Year award. Soccerbuzz.com announced Dickenmann as one of its 12 nominees Monday.
The native of Kreins, Switzerland has fueled Ohio State's postseason run and current eight-match win streak, netting a goal in five of the eight contests and scoring at least one point in the last seven matches.
Dickenmann accounted for the game-winning goal in Ohio State's Big Ten tournament win over Purdue and its conference championship victory over No. 3 Penn State en route to gaining outstanding offensive player of the tournament honors. She also assisted on the game-winning goal in each of Ohio State's NCAA tournament wins last week against Bowling Green and Detroit.
For the season, Dickenmann has set OSU single-season records with 13 goals, 12 assists and 38 points. She is responsible for six game-winning tallies this season.
No. 6-seed Ohio State faces No. 11 Tennessee in the Round of 16 at 1 p.m. Sunday in Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium.
