Columbus, Ohio - Women's soccer freshman Lara Dickenmann who was named outstanding offensive player of the 2004 Big Ten Tournament after leading the Buckeyes to their second league postseason crown in the last three seasons, earned a spot on the SoccerBuzz.com Elite Team of the Week as announced by the website Nov. 11.
The native of Kreins, Switzerland scored both goals in the 2-0 blanking of No. 3 Penn State in the championship match Sunday. She also accounted for both scores in Ohio State's 2-0 win over Purdue in the quarterfinal Thursday. In the 5-2 semifinal win over Michigan Friday, Dickenmann added a pair of assists.
For the season, Dickenmann, who also was named 2004 Big Ten Freshman of the Year, has set OSU single-season records with 12 goals, 10 assists and 34 points. She is responsible for six game-winning tallies this season.
Ohio State opens play in the 2004 NCAA Tournament first round at 7 p.m. Friday evening at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium. The No. 6-seeded Buckeyes face Mid-American Conference tourney winners Bowling Green. Detroit and Michigan meet in the opening match at 4:30 Friday at JOMS.
