COLUMBUS, OhioNikki Walts and Morgan Wolcott, members of the 14th-ranked Ohio State women’s soccer team, have earned second team CoSIDA Academic All-District honors, the organization announced Thursday. 

Walts, a three-time OSU Scholar-Athlete and two-time Academic All-Big Ten selection, was named Big Ten Midfielder of the Year and first team All-Big Ten in 2017. The Scottsdale, Ariz., native and 2017 co-captain ranks first on the team, second in the conference and tied for 15th nationally with nine assists. Walts, who graduated in August with a 3.60 grade-point average in sport industry and currently is pursuing her master’s degree, sits fourth on the Buckeyes’ career assist list with 22.

Wolcott, who received her undergraduate degree in May 2016, is a four-time Academic All-Big Ten pick and OSU Scholar-Athlete. The Milford, Ohio, native is a three-time team captain and possesses a 3.69 grade-point average in Ohio State’s human resources master’s degree program. Wolcott was named Big Ten Defender of the Year and also was named a first team All-Big Ten pick in 2017.

The 14th-ranked and fourth-seeded Buckeyes host Vanderbilt in the first round of the NCAA Tournament at 6 p.m. Friday at Bert L. & Iris S. Wolstein Field at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium.
