Lori Walker, Ohio State head coach
On winning the 2004 Big Ten Tournament
"I cannot describe how much this win means to this team. All of our hard work, desire and dedication paid off today. I have to give credit to our defense as the key to winning this championship. Our backline of Erica Nollen, Melissa Miller, Emily Francis, Keiana Mitchell and Paige Harrison did a tremendous job all weekend of shutting down some high-powered offenses. I am so proud of these girls and what they accomplished today."
On the automatic bid NCAA tournament
"It was another one of our goals to get back in the NCAA tournament and play in the College Cup in December. So far, this team has accomplished all of their goals with one goal, winning the national championship, remaining. If we play as well as we did this past weekend, we will be right in the mix."
Lara Dickenmann, Ohio State freshman forward
On the game
"I am so happy and proud of our accomplishments this weekend. We stuck together all weekend and played for each other. Penn State is a great team with a lot of talent. It was a battle of two great squads. We will celebrate tonight, but it is back to work tomorrow and time to focus on winning the national championship."
Emily Haynam, Ohio State senior goalkeeper
On the tournament championship
"This win has to be the best of my career. To be a senior and win the Big Ten tournament is absolutely amazing. I thought we played excellent defense and Lara (Dickenmann) gave us the goals we needed."
On Penn State forward Tiffany Weimer
"Tiffany is a tremendous offensive player. She is one who you can only hope to contain. I thought we did a good job of keeping her away from the net and did a good job a not giving her any scoring opportunities."
Penn State head coach Paula Wilkins
On Ohio State's play in the championship game
"I think Ohio State did a great job. They came excited to play on their home field. We knew they were very dangerous. It looked like they got to more "50-50" balls than we did and that's a credit to them. They played us tougher than when we met them on our field.
"I think it also helped that they got to rest some kids in the earlier games of the tournament."
