COLUMBUS, Ohio – Lauren Granberg, a forward on the 21st-ranked Ohio State women’s soccer team, was named a Capital One Academic All-District Five second team selection, the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) announced Thursday.
The senior leads the Buckeyes with eight assists while ranking second on the team with eight goals. Granberg, a two-time team captain from Sherwood Park, Alberta, has recorded 56 career points to sit 10th in program history and her 21 career goals puts her 11th on the Ohio State career list. The award is the second of Granberg’s career, garnering third team Academic All-District honors as a sophomore in 2010.
The Capital One/CoSIDA Academic All-America program recognizes outstanding scholar-athletes in NCAA Division I, Division II, Division III and the college divisions (including two-year and NAIA institutions).
The No. 2 seed Buckeyes take on No. 3 seed Michigan in a Big Ten Tournament semifinal at 12:30 p.m. Friday. The game will be televised live on BTN.
