Michela Paradiso Named Big Ten Co-Offensive Player of the Week
COLUMBUS, Ohio – Michela Paradiso, a senior on the Ohio State women’s soccer team, was named Big Ten Co-Offensive Player of the Week, the conference office announced Thursday. The award is the second Big Ten weekly honor of Paradiso’s career and second of the year for a Buckeye after Nichelle Prince was named Player of the Week Aug. 25.
The defender from Upper Arlington, Ohio, scored both goals in the Buckeyes’ 2-0 win over Michigan State on Senior Night Wednesday. Paradiso gave the Buckeyes the lead less than three minutes into the must-win match on a strike from 18 yards on the left wing that crept just underneath the crossbar and inside the far post. She then added a second goal in the 31st minute, converting a penalty kick after getting taken down in the box, for her first-career multi-goal game.
Paradiso, who already sits in a tie for fifth on the Ohio State career assists list with 17, moves into a tie for second on the team with five goals in 2015.
No. 7 seed Ohio State travels to No. 2 seed Wisconsin for a 1 p.m. ET match in the Big Ten quarterfinals Sunday.
