Ann Arbor, Mich. - The Ohio State women's soccer team picked up a crucial 1-0 road victory Friday night at Michigan.

The Buckeyes scored the game's only goal in the 77th minute, on a long strike from 25 yards by Chelsy Swackhamer off an assist by Paige Maxwell.

Ohio State goalkeeper Katie Baumgardner was outstanding, recording 10 saves against the Wolverines, a season high.

It was a physical contest, with 39 fouls called between the two teams. Each team received two yellow cards. Ohio State outshot Michigan 21-18 in the match. In the first half, Ohio State and Michigan each had nine shots.

Ohio State is now 9-7-1 and 4-4-1 in Big Ten competition. The Buckeyes visit Michigan State Sunday for a noon contest. Michigan is now 9-6-2 overall and 4-4-1 in the Big Ten.
