COLUMBUS, Ohio - The Ohio State women’s soccer team travels to No. 17 Penn State for a 3 p.m. matchup Thursday before returning home to take on Northwestern on Senior Day at noon Sunday. Thursday’s match at Penn State will be televised live on BTN.

OHIO STATE OF LATE
Ohio State picked up a 3-1 victory over Michigan State last Saturday in Columbus. Nichelle Prince tallied the game-winning goal and assisted on the other two Buckeye goals while Jillian McVicker made three saves to earn the win in goal.
BUCKEYES CELEBRATE 20 YEARS OF SOCCER
The Ohio State women’s soccer program is celebrating 20 years of women’s soccer this weekend in Columbus. Along with Senior Day festivities Sunday, the Buckeyes are hosting a tailgate before the Ohio State/Iowa football game Saturday and will have an alumni scrimmage Sunday.
PRINCE B1G FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK
Nichelle Prince was named Big Ten Freshman of the Week, the conference office announced Monday. The award is the second Big Ten Freshman of the Week laurel for the Ajax, Ontario, native. Prince scored the game-winning goal for the Buckeyes and assisted on the other two Ohio State goals in a 3-1 win over Michigan State Saturday. The freshman leads Ohio State with seven goals and six assists on the season.
SENIOR CLASS SECOND IN OSU HISTORY
The 2013 senior class of Megan Fuller, Samantha Lewis, Rachel Middleman, Kristen Niederhaus and Danica Wu currently has the second-highest win total of any senior class in program history. The 2013 seniors sit behind only the 2012 class for most victories in Ohio State history. A look at the other top classes:

SCOUTING PENN STATE
No. 17 Penn State is 10-3-1 on the season, 4-2-0 in Big Ten play, after dropping a 1-0 decision to No. 19 Michigan Sunday. Maya Hayes leads the Nittany Lions with 31 points (13g, 5a) and is tied for sixth nationally in goals scored. Goalkeeper Britt Eckerstrom has made 55 saves to go along with a 1.45 goals-against average.
Ohio State trails the all-time series with Penn State, 16-6-1.
Northwestern is 3-9-2 overall, 1-5-0 in Big Ten play. Kate Allen leads the Wildcats with 11 points (3g, 5a) while Jenna Haschler has made 61 saves and posted a 0.96 goals-against average.
The Buckeyes hold a 12-6-1 lead in the all-time series with Northwestern, winning the last five meetings.
BUCKEYES IN THE BIG TEN
Ohio State ranks near the top of the Big Ten in several categories including goals-against average (2nd, 0.67), shutouts (t-4th, 5), corner kicks (t-1st, 90) and goals allowed (2nd, 10).
Nichelle Prince sits tied for fifth in the conference with seven goals and tied for sixth with 20 points and six assists. Jillian McVicker ranks second with a 0.627 goals-against average and an .838 save percentage while Rachel Middleman sits fourth with a 0.78 goals-against average and fifth with an .818 save percentage.
MULTIPLE BUCKEYES MAKE CONTRIBUTIONS
Twelve Buckeyes have tallied a point so far this season, including seven different goal scorers. Six players have notched their first points in a Buckeye uniform.
FULLER CONTINUES STREAK
Senior defender and co-captain Megan Fuller has been a stalwart on the back line for the Buckeyes over her career. The Bondurant, Iowa, native has not missed a minute of game time since the final game of the 2011 campaign in the Sweet 16 at Duke.
WHAT DO THE COACHES THINK?
Ohio State was picked to finish fourth in the Big Ten preseason coaches’ poll, the conference office announced Aug. 14. Senior Megan Fuller and freshmen Lindsay Agnew and Nichelle Prince were named the Buckeyes’ players to watch.
THE COACHING STAFF
Ohio State is under the direction of 17th-year head coach Lori Walker. She has guided the team to eight NCAA Tournament berths (2002-03-04-07-09-10-11-12), a Big Ten regular season championship (2010) and three Big Ten Tournament championships (2002, 2004, 2012). Her record at Ohio State is 194-127-31 and her career record, including two seasons at Kansas, is 207-150-32.
Associate head coach Glen Tourville is in his sixth season while Jason Goodson enters his second season as an assistant coach with the Buckeyes.
NINE AT HOME AND FREE ADMISSION
The Buckeyes’ schedule wraps up this weekend with Senior Day Sunday at noon against Northwestern at Bert L. & Iris S. Wolstein Field at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium this season. Admission is free to all Ohio State women’s soccer home games.
BUCKEYES ON BTN
Ohio State will be on BTN at least three times in 2013. The Buckeyes topped Indiana, 3-1, Sept. 26 in Columbus and dropped a 1-0 overtime contest Oct. 6 at Wisconsin. The 3 p.m. matchup Oct. 17 at Penn State also will be televised on BTN. In addition, the semifinals and championship of the Big Ten Tournament also will be televised on the network.
JESSE OWENS MEMORIAL STADIUM
Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium, the home to the Buckeyes, has provided quite the home-field advantage for the women’s soccer team. Some stats about the facility:
- The home team is 104-39-15 all-time.
- Ohio State is 85-22-13 since 2003 and 60-17-9 since 2006.
- The Buckeyes went 9-2-0 at home in 2009, 9-2-2 in 2010, 7-4 in 2011 and 9-1-1 in 2012.
Ohio State travels to Nebraska at 5 p.m. Oct. 25 and Iowa at 2 p.m. Oct. 27.
