Box Score

Columbus, Ohio - The 11th-ranked Ohio State women's soccer team (8-2-3, 2-2-3) and the Northwestern Wildcats (6-6-1, 2-4-1) played to a 1-1 draw Sunday in Evanston, Ill. Despite out-shooting the Wildcats by a 19-10 margin, Ohio State could not find the goal until late in the second half. The draw marks the third tie of the year for Ohio State - the last coming against Michigan, Oct. 4.

The Wildcats would strike first in the 34th minute of play when a corner kick by forward Aileen Guiney curved into the goal past OSU goalkeeper Staci Sinkway (Fr., Mission Viejo, Calif.). The shot was only the fourth goal to get past Sinkway this season.

The Buckeyes would come out firing in the second half posting nine shots and three corner kicks to keep pressure on the Northwestern goal. The work would pay off at the 73:35 mark of play when midfielder Heather Miller (Jr., Centerville, Ohio) slipped into the center of the field and nailed a shot to the right of the goal box and past Wildcat goalkeeper Whitney Jones to even the score at 1-1. Kathy Fulk (Jr., Dublin, Ohio) led the Buckeyes in shots with six - five of which were on goal.

Emily Haynam (Jr., Westerville, Ohio) would relieve Sinkway in the second half at goalkeeper and finish with six saves, while playing both overtimes.

The Buckeyes would have their opportunities in the overtime periods to come away with the victory, posting five shots on goal and a corner kick.

The Buckeyes return to action at 7:30 p.m., Friday at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium for a match against Big Ten rival Wisconsin.
