COLUMBUS, Ohio Ohio State women’s soccer celebrated the start of Breast Cancer Awareness Month by hosting the Northwestern Wildcats in a special "awareness" game Sunday, Oct. 3 at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium.

The game was designed, marketed and promoted with a goal to raise awareness and to celebrate and honor those women and their families who courageously are fighting the disease and have fought the disease.

The team, wearing pink warm-up jerseys, was honored and thankful to have four honorary captains, and breast cancer survivors, share in the spirit of the day. Those heroes included Anne Bownas, the mother of team manager Spencer Bownas, Debbie Jenkins, the mother of sophomore Courtney Jenkins, Melinda Maxwell, the mother of freshman Paige Maxwell, and team nutritionist Sarah Wick.
