Women's Soccer Stunned 5-2 by Fighting Illini

CHAMPAIGN, Ill.- Ohio State's four-game winning streak was stopped by Illinois, 5-2, at the UI Soccer Field Friday evening.
In the first half, Illinois forward Lisa Baldwin notched a goal in the 7th minute to open the scoring.
Kelly Buszkiewicz countered with a chip shot over the head of Amber Barnes (Jr., Fairfield, Ohio) in the 24th minute. Two minutes later, Illini Hollie Schurr shot from within the box allowing the ball to sneak between Barnes' legs, giving Illinois a 3-0 lead at half time.
OSU shifted the momentum in the second half, as Courtney Nein (So., Middletown, Ohio) headed the ball into the net, off a corner kick from Elisa Hamilton (So., Westerville, Ohio) at the 54 minute mark. The Buckeyes wasted little time as Katy Traeger (Sr., Littleton, Colo.) fired a shot in th 56th minute, off an assist from Lindsay Eckles (Fr., Hilliard, Ohio).
Illinois sophomore Emily Brown would fire two shots into the Buckeye goal to seize the 5-2 win. OSU is 8-3-2 overall and 3-2-1 in the Big Ten conference. The Buckeyes compete against Iowa on Sunday, Oct. 10 at 1 p.m. CST, in their last conference road match of the season.
