Ohio State Travels to No. 13 Wisconsin Friday, Minnesota Sunday
COLUMBUS, Ohio - The Ohio State women’s soccer team travels to face No. 13 Wisconsin and Minnesota this weekend. The match against the Badgers is slated for 8 p.m. ET Friday with the game against the Golden Gophers set for 2 p.m. ET Sunday.

OHIO STATE OF LATE
Ohio State fell, 4-1, to No. 19 Illinois Friday before defeating Northwestern, 3-1, Sunday at Bert L. & Iris S. Wolstein Field at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium. Sammy Edwards, Kayla Varner and Alexis Degler each found the back of the net in the Buckeyes’ win over the Wildcats.
SOME MORE NOTES
- Junior Michela Paradiso sits tied for 11th in Ohio State history with 15 assists.
- Sammy Edwards’ hat trick against Dayton marked the 13th in Ohio State history and first since Nichelle Prince scored three times in a 6-1 win over Northwestern Oct. 20 of last season.
- Sophomore Nichelle Prince already sits 15th on the Ohio State career goals list after tallying 13 as a freshman last season.
- Prince has notched two of the 12 hat tricks in Ohio State history, accomplishing the feat against Northeastern and Northwestern last year.
SCOUTING THE BADGERS
No. 13 Wisconsin is 10-1-0 on the year, 4-1-0 in Big Ten play. The Badgers have posted the seventh-best goals-against average nationally and are led defensively by goalkeeper Genevieve Richard, who has tallied a 0.39 goals-against average and an .889 save percentage. Kinley McNicoll is tied for the team lead with seven goals in addition to six assists.
The Buckeyes have notched a 9-9-5 record all-time against the Badgers.
SCOUTING THE GOLDEN GOPHERS
Minnesota is 6-5-0 on the year, 3-2-0 in conference play. Simone Kolander leads the Golden Gophers with five goals and six assists while goalkeeper Tarah Hobbs has posted a 1.11 goals against average with five shutouts.
The Buckeyes hold an 11-9-3 lead in the all-time series with the Golden Gophers.
WALKER EARNS 200TH AT OHIO STATE
Ohio State head coach Lori Walker picked up her 200th win at Ohio State in the Buckeyes’ 2-1 overtime win at Indiana Sept. 12. With her 13 wins in two seasons as head coach at Kansas, the two-time Big Ten Coach of the Year has notched 214 career wins in 20 seasons as a collegiate head coach.
Gruber, a native of Cincinnati, Ohio, entered the 2014 season after playing in 63 career matches, starting 45. Also a team captain in 2013, Gruber tallied three goals and tied for the team lead with seven assists last season as a junior. Gruber, who has notched four goals and 12 assists in her career, is a three-time OSU Scholar-Athlete and a two-time Academic All-Big Ten pick.

BUCKEYES ON BTN
Ohio State will be on BTN at least twice in 2014. The Buckeyes faced Purdue Sept. 14 in West Lafayette, Ind., and will take on Michigan State at 3:30 p.m. Oct. 16 in East Lansing on BTN. In addition, the semifinals and championship of the Big Ten tournament also will be televised on the network.
THE COACHING STAFF
Ohio State is under the direction of 18th-year head coach Lori Walker. She has guided the team to nine NCAA Tournament berths (2002-03-04-07-09-10-11-12-13), a Big Ten regular season championship (2010) and three Big Ten Tournament championships (2002, 2004, 2012). Her record at Ohio State is 201-137-31 and her career record, including two seasons at Kansas, is 214-160-32.
