COLUMBUS, Ohio - Freshman Lisa Collison scored her team leading sixth goal of the season, as the Ohio State women's soccer team dropped a 4-2 decision to Michigan Friday at Michigan Soccer Field in Ann Arbor, Mich. The Buckeyes move to 3-3-2 overall and open league play 0-1, while the Wolverines improve to 4-2-2 and 1-0 in the conference. Ohio State will try to win its first Big Ten game vs. Michigan State at noon Sunday at Old College Field in East Lansing, Mich.

The Buckeyes got off to a fast start in the first half, scoring in the 10th minute. Lara Dickenmann (So., Kriens, Switzerland/Sursee), who had three shots, notched her first goal of the season when she headed the ball into the lower right corner of the net from a long free kick courtesy of Melissa Miller (Jr., Cincinnati, Ohio/Kolping). It was Miller's second assist of the season. Michigan answered the early OSU score with two goals in the first half. Melissa Dobbyn, with Therese Heaton on the assist, evened the score at 1-all at the 24:07 mark, before Sarah Banco headed in a shot to give the Wolverines the 2-1 lead with less than five minutes remaining in the half (40:18).

Michigan scored two more goals in the second half, tallying four unanswered goals before Collison (Fr., Niagara Falls, Ontario/Burlington Flames) scored Ohio State's second goal at the 80:17 mark. The Wolverines' third score came after the ball bounced off a Buckeye defender, resulting in an OSU own goal at 54:51. Ohio State almost made it a one-goal match when Collison's header was stopped by outstretched Michigan goalkeeper Megan Tuura, who sent the ball just wide of the left post. The Wolverines ended their scoring on an unassisted Dobbyn goal at 74:40. The Buckeyes cut the lead to two after Collison, who directed all five of her shots on goal, shot the ball just over the goal line off a direct free kick 25 yards out, resulting in the 4-2 finish.

Buckeye goalkeeper Staci Sinkway (So., Mission Viejo, Calif./So Cal Blues) received the start and played all 90 minutes. Sinkway had six stops to Tuura's five. The Wolverines out shot the Buckeyes, 23-14 and held the corner kicks advantage, 17-5.
