COLUMBUS, Ohio - After breaking the Ohio State career shutout record Friday and following that up with another clean sheet Sunday, senior goalkeeper Lauren Robertson was named Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week for the second time this season.
The Mission Viejo, Calif. native broke Amber Barnes' record against North Texas on Friday night and made a pair of big saves against Toledo on Sunday to notch her 24th career shutout. Robertson leads the Big Ten with seven shutouts this season including one in each of the Buckeyes' last three contests.
The honor marked the seventh career Big Ten Player of the Week award for the senior, who has lowered her goals-against average to 0.43.
The Buckeyes, now 7-1-1 on the season, open up Big Ten Conference play 1 p.m. Sunday against Michigan at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium.
