COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State women’s soccer team came away with a pair of weekly awards as forward Tiffany Cameron was named Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week and goalkeeper Rachel Middleman earned Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week honors, the conference office announced Monday.
Cameron scored three goals last week, including game-winners against No. 13 Missouri Thursday and Duquesne Sunday as the Buckeyes moved to 5-2-0 on the season. The Mississauga, Ontario, native leads the Buckeyes and is tied for fourth in the Big Ten with six goals this season.
Middleman made four saves over 175 minutes in the two shutout victories. A native of Mars, Pa., Middleman has helped the Buckeyes to five consecutive clean sheets and becomes Ohio State’s second Defensive Player of the Week this season after Kendyl Reed earned the award Aug. 27.
The Buckeyes open Big Ten play against Minnesota at 1 p.m. Sunday at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium.
