COLUMBUS, Ohio - Senior goalkeeper Lauren Robertson has been named Big Ten Conference Defensive Player of the Week following her two shutout weekend.
"It's a great honor for Taz to secure two shutouts on her senior trip back to her home state," head coach Lori Walker said. "It's not just a testament to her efforts but to the work rate of our entire back line."
The Mission Viejo, Calif. Native collected her third shutout of the 2009 campaign in the Buckeyes' 3-0 win over No. 14 San Diego on Friday night and followed that up by blanking Southern Cal, 1-0, on Sunday.
It was a happy homecoming for Robertson, who is second all-time with 21 career shutouts. With two more, she will become the Buckeyes' all-time leader. After the pair of solid efforts this weekend, the senior has now lowered her 2009 goals against average to 0.38.
The Buckeyes, now 3-1-1 in 2009, travel to UNLV for an 8 p.m. matchup on Wednesday before returning home for a 7:30 p.m. match on Friday against Youngstown State.
