Ohio State Hosts Dayton, George Mason This Weekend as Part of Tournament in Columbus
COLUMBUS, Ohio - The Ohio State women’s soccer team hosts Dayton and George Mason this weekend at Bert L. & Iris S. Wolstein Field at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium. In addition to the Buckeyes’ two matches, Indiana and George Mason square off at 4 p.m. Friday before the Hoosiers take on Dayton at 11 a.m. Sunday.

OHIO STATE OF LATE
Ohio State fell to Toledo, 1-0, in double overtime Tuesday evening at Scott Park Soccer Complex. The Buckeyes tallied 14 shots and 11 corners but were unable to find the back of the net before Toledo scored the game-winner in the 105th minute.

- Junior Michela Paradiso sits tied for 13th in Ohio State history with 14 assists.
- Sophomore Nichelle Prince already sits 15th on the Ohio State career goals list after tallying 13 as a freshman last season.
- Prince has notched two of the 12 hat tricks in Ohio State history, accomplishing the feat against Northeastern and Northwestern last year.
SCOUTING THE FLYERS
Dayton is 2-1-1 on the year after picking up wins over UC Santa Barbara and Murray State last weekend. Nicole Walters leads the Flyers with four goals and five assists.
The Buckeyes are 7-2-1 all-time against the Flyers but fell, 1-0, in the last meeting in 2011.
SCOUTING THE PATRIOTS
George Mason is 1-3-0 on the year after picking up a win over American last Sunday. Liz Agiato and Kaila Williams have each found the back of the net for the Patriots.
Sunday marks the first meeting all-time between the Buckeyes and the Patriots.
HONORS POUR IN FOR GELDERNICK
Redshirt freshman Megan Geldernick was named Big Ten Freshman of the Week, the conference office announced Aug. 25 The award is the first Big Ten award for a Buckeye since Nichelle Prince was named Big Ten Freshman of the Week Oct. 21 of last season.
In addition, Geldernick was named to the TopDrawerSoccer.com Team of the Week and the CollegeSoccer360.com Honor Roll for her efforts.
Geldernick, from Aurora, Ill., tallied eight saves in a 1-0 shutout of No. 18 Duke Aug. 22 before making another eight stops in a 1-0 defeat at No. 4 North Carolina Aug. 24. The 16 total stops were the second-most in the Big Ten through the first weekend of play and the eight saves made in each game marked the most for a Buckeye since Katie Baumgardner made eight saves in an NCAA third round match at Duke Nov. 20, 2011.
WALKER CLOSING IN ON 200 AT OHIO STATE
Ohio State head coach Lori Walker picked up her 197th win at Ohio State, 210th overall, Aug. 22 against Duke. The two-time Big Ten Coach of the Year can earn her 200th win at Ohio State as early as Sept. 12 at Indiana.
Gruber, a native of Cincinnati, Ohio, enters the 2014 season after playing in 63 career matches, starting 45. Also a team captain in 2013, Gruber tallied three goals and tied for the team lead with seven assists last season as a junior. Gruber, who has notched four goals and 12 assists in her career, is a three-time OSU Scholar-Athlete and a two-time Academic All-Big Ten pick.
BUCKEYES IN THE RANKINGS
Ohio State sits just outside the Top 25 in the NSCAA/Continental Tire NCAA Division I Women’s poll this week. In addition, the Buckeyes are ranked fifth in the Great Lakes region.

The Buckeyes’ schedule includes nine matches at Bert L. & Iris S. Wolstein Field at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium this season with Big Ten action kicking off Sept. 26 against Illinois. Admission is free to all Ohio State women’s soccer home games.
BUCKEYES ON BTN
Ohio State will be on BTN at least twice in 2014. The Buckeyes take on Purdue at 3 p.m. Sept. 14 in West Lafayette, Ind., and Michigan State at 3:30 p.m. Oct. 16 in East Lansing on BTN. In addition, the semifinals and championship of the Big Ten tournament also will be televised on the network.

Ohio State is under the direction of 18th-year head coach Lori Walker. She has guided the team to nine NCAA Tournament berths (2002-03-04-07-09-10-11-12-13), a Big Ten regular season championship (2010) and three Big Ten Tournament championships (2002, 2004, 2012). Her record at Ohio State is 197-134-31 and her career record, including two seasons at Kansas, is 210-157-32.
