Women's Soccer Defeats No. 18 Florida State, 2-1 In Tiger Invitational

COLUMBUS, Ohio--The Ohio State women's soccer team dropped the no. 18 Florida State Seminoles, 2-1 Sunday afternoon at the University of Missouri/Ellis Copy Tiger Invitational in Columbia, Mo. The Buckeyes move to 2-2 overall and 0-0 in the Big Ten. The Seminoles are 3-2 after earning their first two losses of the season this weekend.
Lindsay Eckles (So., Hilliard, Ohio/Hilliard Davidson) extended her scoring streak to three games, putting OSU on the board in the first two minutes of play. She gathered the ball from teammate Shelley Besson (So., Kettering, Ohio/The Miami Valley School) and shot the ball off an FSU defender for a goal. The Seminoles' first goal came in the 61st minute. Summer Corum scored on a breakaway and tied the match at one.
Less than three minutes later, Jennica Kidd (Fr., Westerville, Ohio/Westerville North) took advantage of a well-placed OSU corner kick and headed the ball past FSU goalkeeper Sarah Crawford for her first career goal. Lindsay Eckles and Jen Miller (So., Centerville, Ohio/ Centerville) were credited with assists.
OSU goalkeeper Amber Barnes (Sr., Fairfield, Ohio/Fairfield) recorded eight saves and the Seminoles outshot the Buckeyes 25-8.
Ohio State heads to Ann Arbor, Mich. this weekend to participate in the University of Michigan Nike Classic. The Buckeyes will compete against the Missouri Tigers at 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 8 and the Washington Huskies at noon Sunday, Sept. 10.
