COLUMBUS, Ohio – Seniors Lindsay Agnew and Morgan Wolcott have been named captains of the 2016 Ohio State women’s soccer team, head coach Lori Walker announced Monday. In addition, Walker announced junior Nikki Walts will serve as assistant captain of the Buckeyes.
Agnew, from Dublin, Ohio, has appeared in 52 matches, starting 49, in her career. The 2015 Big Ten All-Tournament team selection and 2015 Ohio State assistant captain has scored eight goals and tallied 11 career assists. Agnew is a three-time OSU Scholar-Athlete and two-time Academic All-Big Ten selection.
Wolcott, a native of Milford, Ohio, was a co-captain for the Buckeyes in 2015. Wolcott, who has missed two seasons with injuries, has started 34 career games, playing the full match on 25 occasions. The three-time OSU Scholar-Athlete and Academic All-Big Ten pick has scored three goals and added two assists in her career.
Walts, from Scottsdale, Ariz., has not missed a start in her career, playing all 43 matches in her two-plus seasons. The junior has scored seven goals and recorded 11 assists in her career, including seven as a sophomore last year. Walts is a two-time OSU Scholar-Athlete and an Academic All-Big Ten selection in 2015.
Ohio State hosts Wright State at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Bert L. & Iris S. Wolstein Field at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium before road matches at Miami (Fla.) and Florida Gulf Coast this weekend.
