Columbus, Ohio - The Ohio State women's soccer team opened its preseason training camp with the 2004 Scarlet and Gray Scrimmage at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium Thursday. Freshman Heather Young led the Gray to a 4-3 triumph with a pair of goals, including the game-winning score in the third and final session. The Scarlet squad opened the scoring in the first period as another freshman, Carleta Arbulu, buried a shot from just outside the 6-yard box. The Gray answered moments later when Young recorded the first of her two goals to set the score at 1-1. Young capped her day with goal No. 2, which sent the Gray to the 4-3 win in the third period. Senior Heather Miller and junior Danielle Dietrich also added goals for the Gray, while the Scarlet contributors included junior Colleen Hoban and sophomore Taylor Smith. Assistant coach Greg Miller guided the Gray to record his first preseason scrimmage victory. Fellow assistant Jon Lipsitz suffered the loss for the Scarlet. Players, coaches, friends and family enjoyed a barbecue at the stadium following the match. The Buckeyes continue preseason training through Aug. 22 before traveling to Oregon for an exhibition match against the Ducks at the Nike Training Complex Aug. 24. The Buckeyes open the season Aug. 27 vs. 2002 National Champion Portland in Seattle, Wash.
