Prince Caps Canada's Comeback in 3-2 Win over Finland
COLUMBUS, Ohio – Nichelle Prince, a sophomore on the Ohio State women’s soccer team, scored the game-winner in the 80th minute of Canada’s 3-2 comeback win over Finland in the group stage of the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup Friday evening at BMO Field in Toronto.
“It was amazing just to score but to get the game-winner was just over the top,” Prince said. “I’m proud to get the goal and happy to get the win. We gained confidence in each other with this comeback but we have to put this match behind us and get another win.”
Prince started and played all 90 minutes for Canada, who trailed 2-0 at the half. The Canadians scored twice in the first five minutes of the second half before Prince followed up a rebound for the game-winner in the 80th minute.
The Canadians take on North Korea, who has won its first two group stage matches, at 7 p.m. Tuesday in Montreal with a berth in the quarterfinals on the line.
