COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State women’s soccer team opened its 2015 campaign with its first team training session Wednesday evening at the upper practice fields across the street from Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium.
The Buckeyes, under the direction of 19th-year head coach Lori Walker, return eight starters and 14 letterwinners of last year’s team that finished 6-10-3 overall, 3-7-3 in Big Ten play. Sophomore forward Sammy Edwards is back after leading the Buckeyes with six goals a year ago along with junior defender Nicole Miyashiro, who paced Ohio State with five assists.
Ohio State will play exhibitions at Michigan Aug. 12 and at home against Wake Forest Aug. 15 before opening the regular season with home matches against Illinois State Aug. 21 and nationally-ranked Florida Aug. 23.
