Pair of Ohio State Head Coaches to Broadcast Summer Olympics for NBC

COLUMBUS, Ohio - Ohio State wrestling head coach Russ Hellickson and women's soccer head coach Lori Walker have been signed by NBC to cover the 2004 Olympic Games Aug. 13-29 in Athens, Greece. Hellickson, who will be part of his sixth Olympic broadcast team, will do play-by-play for both Greco and Freestyle wrestling. Walker, who served the last three seasons as an analyst for the Women's United Soccer Association (WUSA), will provide color commentary for women's soccer.
Hellickson previously covered wrestling at the 1984, '88, '92, '96 and 2000 Olympic games in the role of analyst at the 1984 Los Angeles games and as play-by-play from 1988 in Seoul, Korea through 2000 in Sydney, Australia. Hellickson was an Olympic silver medallist at the 1976 games in Montreal, Quebec and a member of the 1980 U.S. team that boycotted the Olympics in Moscow. In 2004, Hellickson led Ohio State to its best finish at the NCAA championships as five Buckeyes gained All-America honors in claiming a tie for third place. Hellickson will coach his 19th season at OSU in 2004-05.
Walker previously has worked with Comcast SportsNet in Maryland the last two years covering the Washington Freedom and in 2001 with Madison Square Garden (MSG) network announcing matches for the New York Power. Walker was a three-time national champion as a member of the women's soccer team at North Carolina from 1989-91. As a coach, Walker has led the Buckeyes to consecutive berths in the NCAA tournament the last two seasons as well as the program's first win in the tournament in 2003. The 2004 season will be Walker's eighth at Ohio State.
