Ellyn Gruber Earns NSCA Athlete of the Year Award
COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Ellyn Gruber, a senior on the 2014 Ohio State women's soccer team, was named a National Strength and Condition Athlete of the Year Award recipient, the organization announced Tuesday. The award program recognized collegiate athletes whose athletic accomplishments, in the opinion of their strength coach, reflect their dedication to strength and conditioning.
Gruber joins Caitlyn Wagner (field hockey), Maddy McIntyre (softball) and Rick Lewis (men's lacrosse) as Buckeyes to earn the award for the 2014-15 year.
Gruber, a two-time team captain, appeared in 18 matches, making 12 starts, scoring a goal and adding two assists in her senior campaign. The Cincinnati, Ohio, native finished her career tied for 14th on the Ohio State career list with 14 assists. For her career, Gruber appeared in 81 contests, making 57 starts, and was named a three-time Academic All-Big Ten selection and four-time OSU Scholar-Athlete.
