COLUMBUS, Ohio - The Ohio State women's soccer team has released its 2013 schedule, head coach Lori Walker announced Friday. The Buckeyes, who finished 2012 with a 16-4-2 record and advanced to their fourth-consecutive NCAA Tournament, will take on six NCAA Tournament teams from last season.
"Everything for us starts in conference and we have some of our natural rivals on the road in 2013 so we're excited to balance that at home with Arizona, hosting Coach Miller and Pittsburgh and being at home to open our season," Walker said. "We're excited about our trip up to Boston to have a game against Boston College and I think it's a balanced schedule with a lot of teams that consistently compete well in their own conferences and should do a nice job in preparing us for our Big Ten schedule."
The Buckeyes open the schedule with an exhibition against Miami, Fla., Aug. 16 before opening the season at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium against Morehead State on Aug. 23 and Eastern Michigan Aug. 25. Pittsburgh comes to Columbus for an Aug. 29 matchup, led by head coach Greg Miller. Miller was an assistant for the Buckeyes from 2001-11.
Ohio State opens September with a home game against Arizona Sept. 1 before heading Boston College Sept. 5 and Northeastern Sept. 8. The Buckeyes then conclude their non-conference slate with a weekend tournament at Indiana where they will take on Central Michigan Sept. 13 and St. John's Sept. 15.
The Buckeyes enter Big Ten play with three home contests: against Illinois Sept. 20, Indiana Sept. 27 and Purdue Sept. 29. Ohio State hits the road with a northern trip at Minnesota Oct. 4 and at Wisconsin Oct. 6 before returning home to face Michigan State Oct. 12. After an away match at 2012 national finalist Penn State Oct. 17, the Buckeyes take on Northwestern on Senior Day Oct. 20. Ohio State then concludes its regular-season slate at Nebraska Oct. 25, at Iowa Oct. 27 and at Michigan Nov. 2.
The Big Ten Tournament is set for Nov. 6-10 at Illinois before NCAA Tournament play begins the following weekend.
