COLUMBUS, Ohio - The Ohio State women's soccer team begins its spring schedule Saturday against the U.S. U-20 Women's National Team at 4 p.m. PDT at the Nike World Headquarters in Beaverton, Ore. The U-20 squad recently qualified for the 2006 FIFA U-20 Women's World Championship after winning the 2006 CONCACAF Women's Under-20 tournament. Buckeye head coach Lori Walker was a part of the selection committee that chose the 20 U.S. team members from a national pool of 30 in January.
The Buckeyes will continue to face tough competition when they take on Portland, the 2005 NCAA champion, at 4 p.m. PDT Sunday at Merlo Field on the University of Portland campus in Portland, Ore. OSU then faces Cincinnati at 4:30 p.m. April 15 in Cincinnati, Ohio, and West Virginia April 23 in Morgantown, W. Va. The Mountaineers earned a bid to the 2005 NCAA tournament. Ohio State closes its spring campaign April 29 with a home match at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium vs. the Pennsylvania Strikers club team.
