COLUMBUS, Ohio - The Ohio State women's soccer team commenced the 2007 spring season Saturday when it traveled to Knoxville, Tenn., to play three friendlies. The Buckeyes posted a 1-1-1 record on the day, defeating host Tennessee, 2-0, tying Big Ten rival Illinois, 2-2 and falling to NCAA defending champion North Carolina, 2-1.
In the win over the Lady Volunteers, the Scarlet and Gray received goals from Kate Linehan (Columbus, Ohio/Ohio Premier) and Lisa Collison (Niagara Falls, Ontario/Burlington Flames). Lara Dickenmann (Kriens, Switzerland/DFC Sursee) and Caitlin Colfer (Albany, N.Y./Albertson) put up two goals vs. the Fighting Illini, while Ashley Bowyer (Aliso Viejo, Calif./Slammers) scored the lone goal for the Buckeyes against the Tar Heels.
Ohio State continues the spring season March 3-4 when it travels to Tempe, Ariz., to face host Arizona State at 5 p.m. and Washington State at 10:30 a.m.
