COLUMBUS, Ohio – Devon Kerr and Izzy Rodriguez, members of the Ohio State women’s soccer team, have been called in to represent the Buckeyes at a pair of U.S. Youth National Team camps. Kerr, who just concluded her junior campaign, will travel to Carson, Calif., for a camp with the U.S. U-23 Women’s National Team Jan. 4-11 while Rodriguez, a rising sophomore, is in Bradenton, Fla., for a U.S. U-20 Women’s National Team camp Dec. 28-Jan. 3.
Kerr, a second team All-Midwest Region pick, started all 21 matches in her junior campaign, earning second team All-Big Ten honors and Big Ten All-Tournament team laurels. The Barrie, Ontario, native ranked second in the Big Ten with a 0.63 goals-against average and nine shutouts. Kerr, a two-time Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week, already is tied for fifth on the Buckeyes’ career shutout list with 11 and the nine clean sheets in 2017 ranked second in a single season in program history.
Rodriguez, a Canton, Mich., native, started all 21 matches at left back, ranking fourth on the team with five assists. The third team All-Big Ten honoree and member of the Big Ten All-Freshman team assisted on a pair of goals in the win against Illinois while assisting on Nikki Walts’ game-winner against Michigan State.
The Buckeyes concluded the 2017 campaign with a 15-5-1 record and the first outright Big Ten championship in program history.
