Ohio State Tops Indiana, 2-1, on Paradiso's Game-winner in the 85th Minute

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – The Ohio State women’s soccer team picked up a 2-1 win at Indiana on Michela Paradiso’s game-winner in the 85th minute Sunday afternoon at Armstrong Stadium. With the win, the Buckeyes improve to 9-4-3, 4-3-2 in the Big Ten, while the Hoosiers drop to 3-8-6, 0-5-4 in conference play.
On the game-winner, Lindsay Agnew possessed on the left wing and dribbled past a pair of Indiana defenders on a parallel run to the end line before crossing to Paradiso, who finished from eight yards to give the Buckeyes the victory.
Ohio State’s first chance came in the 13th minute when Paradiso possessed at the top of the box off a Nikki Walts corner and found Nichelle Prince who fired a shot from eight yards out right into the arms of Indiana goalkeeper Sarah Stone.
Five minutes later, Paradiso again found Prince at the top of the box, where the junior turned past an Indiana defender and lined a shot toward the right post but Stone again was able to make a diving save to keep the game scoreless.
Ohio State took the lead in the 24th minute when Prince possessed a throw-in on the left wing and crossed to an open Agnew who finished off the bottom of the crossbar past Stone to give the Buckeyes the 1-0 advantage.
Indiana had an opportunity in the 40th minute when Veronica Ellis possessed at the top of the box and took a shot from 18 yards but it drifted wide right as the Buckeyes took the 1-0 lead into the half.
Through the first 45 minutes, Ohio State had a 15-5 lead in shots, 7-1 on goal. The Buckeyes tallied a 5-1 lead in corners.
Indiana got on the board in the 50th minute when Justine Lynn found Jesse Bujouves, who volleyed home a shot from 15 yards inside the left post to knot the score at 1-1.
Ohio State had another chance in the 76th minute when Nya Cason snuck behind the Ohio State defense for a breakaway against Stone but her shot from 15 yards sailed wide left.
The Buckeyes continued to produce opportunities before Paradiso’s game-winner in the 85th minute.
For the game, Ohio State held a 22-12 lead in shots, 9-4 on goal, while corners were tied at 5-5.
Ohio State hosts Penn State at 6 p.m. Saturday.
