Columbus, Ohio – The Ohio State women’s rowing team had four athletes named to the Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association (CRCA) All-Region squad on Monday. Rachel Engel, Ida Kruse and Stephanie Williams earned First Team honors, and Aina Cid I Centelles was named to the Second Team.
All four of the rowers raced with the First Varsity Eight in every race they competed in. They helped the 1V8 accrue a record of 10-5 in races (43-7 overall) throughout the season, including a Big Ten boat title that helped Ohio State clinch its fifth consecutive conference title. At the NCAA Championships, all four of the All-Region honorees helped the 1V8 place seventh overall, winning the Petite Final, with a time of 6:45.65.
It is the second year in a row that Williams has earned the First Team honor. Engel, Kruse and Cid I Centelles garner the recognition for the first time in their careers. Nominated student-athletes are evaluated on the strength of their team’s regional finish, coaches recommendations and 2,000m erg score.
In addition to the four All-Region honorees, seven Buckeyes were named CRCA Scholar-Athletes. The aforementioned Cid I Centelles and Engel were recipients along with Hanna Gottschalk, Chelsea Harpool, Morgan Hummel, Cassandra Johnson and Kaylee Koker.
