COLUMBUS, Ohio - Rowing in its third race of the NCAA championships, the Ohio State Second Varsity Eight finished sixth in its semifinal heat Saturday morning on Lake Natoma in Gold River, Calif. The Buckeye crew will now contend for a seventh-place finish when it races in the Petite Final at 1:45 p.m. ET Sunday.
The Ohio State First Varsity Eight and First Varsity Four also will finish up action at the 2010 edition of the championships when they begin racing in the third-level finals beginning at 12:45 p.m. ET.
Jill Mohr, Tess Prescott, Emily Walsh, Emily Ralph, Mandy Merritt, Caroline McPherson, Lindsey Titus, Katie Flarida and coxswain Samantha Getz faced stiff competition in their heat, taking on Stanford, Princeton, Wisconsin, Michigan and Washington State. With all six crews looking to snag a Top 3 finish to advance to the Grand Final, the Buckeyes knew they had their hands full. It was a tough race as the Scarlet and Gray remained in sixth place throughout the contest and finished in a time of 6:43.71.
