COLUMBUS, Ohio – The No. 4 Ohio State rowing team posted two wins during the second and final day of the Clemson Invitational to close the two-day regatta with 12 wins overall, including wins over five ranked teams. Due to high wind, races that started after the first varsity four were unofficial and results were not counted.
The Buckeyes opened the morning session of racing with first varsity eight competition. The crew of Katie King, Cori Meinert, Eelkje Miedema, Ashley Bauer, Meghan Birkbeck, Allison Elber, Holly Norton, Claire-Louise Bode and coxswain Amanda Poll earned its second victory of the weekend with a time of 6:40.1, placing ahead of UCLA (6:45.8) and Minnesota (6:52.2).
The second varsity eight was the next boat to compete for the Buckeyes. The boat of Daphne Socha, Chloe Meyer, Silvia DeMatteis, Stephanie Johnson, Nicole Becks, Lauren Eckles, Samantha Fowle, Catherine Shields and coxswain Victoria Lazur earned its third victory of the weekend, placing first over UCLA (7:06.0) and Minnesota (7:09.9) with a time of 6:55.1 to earn its seventh win of the year and remain perfect on the season.
The Buckeyes return to action May 4 at 9 a.m. against Harvard on the Scioto River at Griggs Reservoir.
