Columbus, Ohio – The Second Varsity Eight claimed No. 2 Ohio State’s only win on the first day of the Pac-12 Challenge on Saturday in Redwood Shores, Calif. In the afternoon session against No. 1 California, the 2V8 clocked a time of 6:25.55 to win the head-to-head matchup by 3.35 seconds.
No. 4 Washington swept the morning session over Ohio State in the First Varsity Eight, Second Varsity Eight and First Varsity Four. Ohio State’s 1V4 registered a time of 7:23.3, the 1V8 finished in 6:31.4 and the 2V8 crossed the finish line with a time of 6:40.2.
In the afternoon session, Ohio State handed California’s 2V8 boat its first loss of the year, winning by more than three seconds. The Buckeyes’ 1V8 (6:18.99) and 1V4 (7:05.47) both bettered their times from the morning session by more than 12 seconds, each in losses.
