COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State women’s lacrosse coach Alexis Venechanos has signed nine new Buckeyes for the 2015 season. The recruiting class features student-athletes from six different states, including three from New York and two from Ohio. The well-rounded class also features signees from California, Florida, Maryland and Virginia.

The class includes: Madison Castelein (Defender, Alamo, Calif.), Lauren Sherry (Midfield, Orlando, Fla.), Anna Seanor (Defender, Canton, Ohio), Shannon Rosati (Midfield, Shoreham, N.Y.), Emalee Mongno (Attack/Midfield, Yorktown Heights, N.Y.), Molly Wood (Midfield, Skaneateles, N.Y.), Abigail Wise (Goalkeeper, Cincinnati, Ohio), Katherine Burgee (Attack/Midfield, Churchville, Md.) and Katie Kerrigan (Attack, Oakton, Va.).

Four-year letterwinner in soccer, basketball and lacrosse at Wright … three-year starter for lacrosse under coach Brent Ritz … member of the Baltimore Metro team during the 2012 season … two-time Academic All-American … awarded second team All-County and first team All-County during her junior and senior campaigns, respectively … participated in seven seasons of club lacrosse for NEMS as a midfielder under Maddie Chizmar … has a sister, Liz, who plays lacrosse at the University of Cincinnati … a member of the National Honor Society.

A four-year letterwinner of the women’s lacrosse team under coach Rick Jeffery … led team to three consecutive NCS Championship wins … three-time first team All-East Bay member 2011-2014 … two-time first team All-League 2012 and 2014 … a team captain junior and senior seasons … named 2014 All-American and Academic All-American junior and senior seasons, claiming MVP of team honors in 2014 … played midfield for Bearlax Club Lacrosse team 2011-2014 under coach Annie Leibovitz … Co-coordinated St. Vincent de Paul’s Walk for the Poor in Danville, Calif., where she received a bronze service award for completing 150 service hours in 2011 … older sister, Morgan, is a sophomore on the Ohio State lacrosse team.

A four-time starter and letterwinner under coach Amanda Counts at James Madison HS … helped her team to four consecutive district championship victories from 2011-2014, two regional championships and two state championship wins during the 2011 and 2013 seasons … awarded first team All-District honors from 2011-2014 … received first team All-Region accolades from 2012-2014 … a member of the first team All-American squad for the 2014 season … was named a scholar athlete all four years of high school and also was a member of the National Honor Society.

A three-year starter and four-year letterwinner for Yorktown High School lacrosse team under coach Ellen Mager … a member of the 2011 state semifinal team … during her junior and senior campaigns, Mongno was a member of the All-Section and All-America teams, scoring 35 goals and 22 assists in 2014 … team captain in 2014 … also a three-time letterwinner in field hockey … father, Bobby Mongno, played lacrosse for SUNY Albany and uncle, Jimmy Mongno, played lacrosse at Lynchburg … was a teammate of current Buckeye Katie Frederick at Yorktown, where head coach Alexis Venechanos attended.

A three-year letterwinner and starter for the Timber Creek High School women’s lacrosse team under Coach Kidder … was awarded Midfielder of the Year during the 2011 and 2012 seasons … a two-year starter for the Orlando National team 2010-2011 … played defense for RC Elite Lacrosse under coach Dennis Short for two seasons.

Abigail was a four-year letterwinner and starting goalkeeper for Sycamore High School under coaches Ed Clark, Allison Bell and Meredith Post … team claimed district and regional championship victories during her sophomore campaign … awarded All-City honors when Sycamore was the state runner-up during the 2013 season … member of the 2013 and 2014 National Tournament team … upon her senior season in 2014, Wise was team captain of the undefeated, state champion team and awarded All-Division accolades … member of the National Honor Society.
