Buckeyes Begin Fall Competition Saturday

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State women’s lacrosse team beings its 2014 fall season this weekend when its hosts Marquette and Cincinnati at the Harmon Football Practice Park at the Woody Hayes Athletic Center. Ohio State will face Marquette at 9 a.m., Cincinnati at 10:25 a.m. and Marquette a second time around 11:50 a.m. Admission is free for these games. From there, the Buckeyes will hit the road to face Northwestern in Indianapolis Sunday, Sept. 28.

The following weekend Ohio State heads to Annapolis, Md., Saturday, Oct. 4 to face Navy, Syracuse, James Madison and Harvard before trekking north to Loyola, Md., to face Florida, Loyola and Boston College.

In all, Ohio State will face four teams (Loyola, Northwestern, Boston College and Florida) who made the NCAA Tournament last season.

The fall season concludes with the Ohio State Alumni game Thursday, Oct. 18 at 8:30 a.m. at the Harmon Football Complex.

The Buckeyes, who are returning 9 of 12 starters, finished 13-7 overall and 4-2 in ALC play in 2014, and earned their first NCAA Tournament appearance in 11 years under fourth-year head coach Alexis Venechanos. The 13 wins were the second most in school history while the No. 13 final national ranking marked the second-best finish in school history in a national poll.
