Columbus, Ohio—Meredith Bushell has been selected to participate in the 2017 IWLCA Division I Senior All-Star Lacrosse Game.
A senior this past season, Bushell was a defensive stalwart for the Buckeyes during her time in Columbus. She started all 17 games in 2017, registering 38 ground balls and causing 19 turnovers. In six of the first seven games of the season she picked up multiple ground balls; not coincidentally, Ohio State had a record of 5-2 in those games. She had a season-high of seven ground balls against Rutgers on Mar. 24.
Compared to her Big Ten peers, Bushell was among the best defensemen in the conference. Her 2.24 ground balls per game were fourth in the Big Ten and the most among all defensemen. She is one of six B1G players to be selected for this game.
The game will be held on Tierney Field at US Lacrosse Headquarters in Sparks, Md. on Saturday, June 3, 2017. The Division I teams will play the first game at 11:30 am, the Division II game will follow at 12:45 pm, and the Division III teams will cap off the event with their game at 2:00 pm. Admission for all three games is free of charge. The games will also be web-streamed live on IWLCA-tv.com.
