COLUMBUS, Ohio - Brittney Zerhusen, a senior attacker on the No. 19-ranked Ohio State women's lacrosse team, was named the WomensLax.com Player of the Week and the ALC Offensive Player of the Week after leading the Buckeyes to their first ALC victory of the season, an upset of 14th-ranked Vanderbilt, 17-16.
Zerhusen had 10 points off five goals and five assists, leading all scorers and tying her career high for single-game points, a mark which ranks fourth all-time in the Ohio State record books. Zerhusen's effort, which also included a ground ball and three draw controls, led the Buckeyes to their second victory over a Top 15 team this season (13-8 over then 11th-ranked Notre Dame March 10).
This was Zerhusen's second ALC accolade of the season. Florida's Mikey Meagher picked up the first ALC honor of her career as the Defensive Player of the Week, while Northwestern's Alyssa Leonard earned her second Rookie of the Week nod.
The Sykesville, Md., native, is currently second on the team with 32 goals, 15 assists, and 47 points. Zerhusen and the Buckeyes take on Detroit at 4 p.m. Tuesday, before returning to ALC play at Penn State at 1 p.m. Sunday.
