COLUMBUS, Ohio - The Ohio State (0-7 overall) women's lacrosse team lost to eighth-ranked Maryland (8-3), 17-8 in the second day of play in the Atlantic Coast Conference/American Lacrosse Conference Challenge hosted by Maryland. Ohio State's Kelyn Laws (Jr., Ellicott City, Md.) and Jessica Patane (So., Farmingdale, N.Y.) scored two goals each for the Buckeyes with Laws adding two assists and Patane one. Maryland's Katie Doolittle and Katie Princiotto each scored a game-high four goals in the contest.

Maryland opened the scoring with two Doolittle goals, the first at 0:16 into the game, assisted by Krista Pellizzi and the second at 1:18, assisted by Kelly Kasper. Delia Cox made it 3-0 at 2:06 with a free position shot and Doolittle's third goal at 2:10 was assisted by Casey Magor. The Terrapins took the lead to 5-0 with a Pellizzi goal at 6:20, assisted by Doolittle. Ohio State stopped the scoring run at 7:36 with a KC Carter (Sr., Birchrunville, Pa.) goal on a Patane assist. Kasper made it 6-1 at 11:50, assisted by Pellizzi. Consecutive goals by Princiotto took the Maryland lead to 8-1. Her first goal was at 12:17 and the second at 17:54. It was assisted by Becky Clipp. Buckeye Natale Miller (Jr., West Chester, Pa.) made it 8-2 at 31:25. The Terrapins responded with a Pellizzi goal at 23:43, assisted by Cox. A Kelly Kremer (So., Kennett Square, Pa.) goal with an assist from Laws made it 9-3 at 28:13. Maryland closed out the first half scoring with a Clipp goal at 29:57 for a 10-3 lead.

Ohio State opened the second half with a three-goal run to cut the lead to 10-6. Laws opened the half with a score at 31:38. A Kristen Hannon (So., Sykesville, Md.) goal, assisted by Laws, came at 33:26. The Buckeyes cut the lead to four with a free position goal by Laws at 38:47. At 43:15, a Doolittle free position goal made it 11-6. Cox took the lead to six, at 12-6, with a goal at 44:04. OSU's Patane scored at 44:35, assisted by Kremer, to make it 12-7. Maryland scored the next five goals to open a 17-7 lead. The run began with two Princiotto goals, the first, a free position shot at 48:43 and the second at 49:03, assisted by Kasper. Kasper then scored, with a Cox assist, at 49:46. Terrapin Magor, assisted by Kasper, scored at 56:47 and a Cox goal at 57:27 completed the run. OSU's Patane closed out the scoring at 59:01 for the final 17-8 Maryland win. In goal, OSU's Kristen Gilwee (Fr., Hunt Valley, Md.) took the loss for the Buckeyes while making a career-high 20 saves. Terrapin Allie Buote played 59:01 for Maryland, in the win, giving up eight goals and making four saves. Lynne Cooper played the final 59 seconds for Maryland in goal.

Ohio State will play its fifth consecutive road game Friday as they face Duquesne (5-2) at 4 p.m. The Buckeyes return home Sunday to host Davidson (6-3) in a 1 p.m. game in Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium.
