COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Freshman midfielder Baley Parrott has been named the Big Ten co-freshman of the week in honor of her play last Saturday in the season-opening win over Detroit.
Parrott, playing in her first collegiate game, scored two goals on two shots -- one of 14 different Buckeyes to score on the day. Parrott scored her first goal, unassisted, at the 19:17 mark in the first half to make the score 10-1. She later added a second goal, also unassisted, to finish off the Buckeye scoring with 2:40 left in the game.
Parrott is the first Buckeye freshman to win the weekly honor since Molly Wood last February. Parrott shared the honor with Maryland's Caroline Steele.
The 16th-ranked Buckeyes head west this week to take on Cal and Stanford Friday and Sunday. Friday's game with Cal in Berkeley will be televised on the Pac-12 Network at 2/5 p.m. ET while Sunday's tilt with the Cardinal in Palo Alto will begin at Noon/3 p.m. ET.
