PISCATAWAY, N.J. -- The Buckeye women's lacrosse team suffered a 15-5 loss at Rutgers this evening at High Point Solutions Stadium.
The loss drops the Buckeyes to 6-6 overall and 0-2 in Big Ten while Rutgers moves to 6-4 and 1-1.
Molly Wood and Erika Keselman each scored two goals while Mackenzie Maring notched a game-high three assists.
Down 5-1 with 11 minutes left in the first half, Ohio State put together a small rally and scored two goals to close out the half, the first by Wood at 5:12 and the second from Keselman with 3 minutes left, forcing a Rutgers timeout.
Both teams then traded goals to start the second half as RU's Samantha Budd scored first at 27:41 before Keselman answered right back at 27:15 to cut the Scarlet Knight lead to 6-4.
Rutgers would go on to score the next two before Wood notched her second goal at 20:19 to make it 8-5. But it was all Rutgers from that point as the Scarlet Knights scored the final seven goals to close out the game.
Baley Parrott also scored for the Buckeyes, giving OSU the 1-0 lead early on. Jillian Rizzo made eight saves in goal.
Ohio State is back in action at Noon Sunday against No. 9 USC at Mountain Lakes High School in Mountain Lakes, N.J.
