COLUMBUS, Ohio - No. 9/15 Ohio State dropped a road contest at No. 18/19 Notre Dame this afternoon, 13-5, at Arlotta Stadium in South Bend, Ind. The loss snaps a four-game win streak and drops the Buckeyes to 8-2 overall. UND improves to 5-4.

With the score tied at 3-2 at the half, the Irish used a 6-0 run to open the second half and take a 9-2 lead with 17:15 left. The Buckeyes were held scoreless in the second half until the 8:57 mark when Mary Kate Facchina found the back of the net off a Katie Chase assist to make it 9-3. The Buckeyes kept battling, however, as Molly Wood would add an unassisted goal a few minutes later to make it 10-4 with 6:18 left. But the deficit proved too much to overcome as UND answered with three straight goals to push the lead to 13-4 and turn away any chance at an Ohio State comeback.

Ohio State goalie Tori DeScenza had a fine day in goal overall with a season-high 12 saves. She made nine of those in the first half to keep the Buckeyes within striking distance at the half.

Jackie Cifarelli led Ohio State with two goals, one to tie the game early on at 1-1 and a second with under a minute remaining. Rainey Hodgson, Facchina and Molly Wood each added one goal. Chase and Jennifer Porretto had one assist each while Chase led the Buckeyes with five draw controls.

Notre Dame was in control for much of the game, outshooting the Buckeyes 36-17 while forcing 25 Ohio State turnovers.

The Irish were led by Cortney Fortunato's four goals and one assist. Rachel Sexton had three goals for ND.

Ohio State will look to rebound at 5 p.m. next Friday vs. Michigan at home in the inaugural Big Ten conference game in program history.
