Ohio State jumped out to a 6-4 lead at the half and then relied on its defense, allowing just three second-half goals on 17 Bearcat shot attempts.
Ohio State scored early in the second on Wood's second goal of the game to make it 7-4 with 27:46 left. The game stayed that way for the next eight minutes until BU's Jocelyn Penteck scored twice less than 90 seconds apart to cut the Buckeye lead to 7-6 with 17:57 remaining.
Neither team scored for the next 13 minutes until Baley Parrott scored her lone goal of the game on a free-position attempt with 5 minutes left. Binghamton added a late goal with 46 seconds to go, but Wood won the ensuing draw control and the Buckeyes held on long enough to run out the clock for their sixth win of the year.
Parrott finished with one goal and two assists while Morgan Fee (1A), Alex Vander Molen and Sage Darling also scored.
Wood scored her 100th career goal early in the game, becoming the 11th Buckeye in program history to reach the milestone.
Ohio State now heads to New Jersey next weekend to take on Rutgers at 7 p.m. Friday in Piscataway before matching up at Noon Sunday with No. 5 USC at Mountain Lakes High School in Mountain Lakes, N.J.
