COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Senior Rainey Hodgson recorded four points (3 goals, 1 assist) and three other Buckeyes scored multiple goals as No. 17 Ohio State posted an 11-5 victory over in-state foe Cincinnati Friday afternoon at Ohio Stadium.

The win moves Ohio State to 5-1 while the Bearcats slip to 4-3.

Ohio State dominated from the opening draw, outshooting the Bearcats, 30-15, and winning the draw control battle, 11-6. The Buckeyes raced out to a 5-1 lead and never looked back as Molly Wood and Hodgson each scored two goals in the first 20 minutes to help the Buckeyes take control. Cincinnati scored the last two goals of the half to make it 5-3 at the break.

Helping to set the tone in the first half was the play of Ohio State's defense, who forced six turnovers on 10 UC clear opportunities. The Buckeyes made life miserable on the Bearcat attack all afternoon, allowing just seven shots in the first half and 15 for the game.

The second half saw more of the same as Ohio State scored six of the first seven goals to take an 11-4 lead midway through. The half started with Avery Murphy finding Paulina Constant at 23:33 before Kelsey Gallagher found the back of the net two minutes later unassisted.

UC's Megan Bell then cut the lead to 7-4 20 seconds later and it stood that way for more than 5 minutes until Cian Dabrowski's free-position goal ignited a 4-0 run to put the game out of reach. Hodgson added her third goal less than a minute later and Murphy found Constant a second time, streaking to the goal uncovered to make it 10-4. Christine "Gizmo" Easton then capped the Ohio State scoring just under 7 mintues on a free-position goal.

Katie Frederick, the reigning Big Ten and Inside Lacrosse player of the week, made six saves in goal.

Ohio State returns to action at Noon Sunday when it welcomes Virginia Tech to Ohio Stadium.
