COLUMBUS, Ohio — For the second consecutive month, Emma Maltais has been named the Western Collegiate Hockey Association Rookie of the Month, Powered by GoodWood Hockey, conference officials announced on Monday.
Maltais posted a team-high nine points in November, scoring three goals while notching six assists. She scored at least two points in four straight games during the month, and has eight multi-point games this season. Her best performance of the month came at Bemidji State, where she tallied a goal and an assist in Ohio State’s 5-4 win.
The freshman earned the WCHA Rookie of the Month honors last month as well after a stellar opening month of play. Maltais currently leads the conference in points-per-game with 1.28. Among all WCHA rookies, she holds first place with 23 points, 15 assists, and three game winning goals. Her .83 assists per game also lead all conference freshmen.
The Buckeyes are off this weekend and return to action on Friday, December 15 at Mercyhurst. Puck drop for the series opener is set for 7:00 p.m. ET.
