COLUMBUS, Ohio — Lauren Boyle has been named the NCAA No. 2 Star of the Week, and the Western Collegiate Hockey Association Offensive Player of the Week after her five point performance over the weekend against Minnesota State.
The junior picked up her first point of the weekend with an assist on the game-winning goal on Friday night, but that was just the start of a banner weekend. Boyle started her point barrage on Saturday by assisting on the first OSU goal of the game. She followed that by netting her second goal of the season to tie the game at 2-2. After the Buckeyes fell behind by a score of 3-2, the junior picked up her second assist on another game-tying goal. Finally, Boyle lit the lamp for the second time in the game to give Ohio State some insurance with a 5-3 lead late in the third period.
Boyle is in her third year as a Buckeye, with 80 games under her belt. The Eden Prairie, Minnesota native has 39 points in her Ohio State career, 12 coming from goals and 27 from assists.
The Buckeyes hit the road for a WCHA series this weekend at Bemidji State. Game one of the series gets underway at 8:07 p.m. ET on Friday.
