COLUMBUS, Ohio – When the 2013-14 season gets underway for the Ohio State women’s hockey team, it will be without two familiar faces behind the bench. Assistant coaches Chris MacKenzie and Candace Moxley have both accepted positions to become head coaches, MacKenzie at the University of Connecticut and Moxley at Division III Buffalo State.
“I am happy for Mac and Mox on their moving into head coaching positions,” Nate Handrahan, head coach of Ohio State women’s hockey said Tuesday. “It is difficult for a program to lose one great person let alone two, but I am positive that we will have the ability to replace them. Both Mac and Mox will do a great job in their new posts and I take pride in that we played a part in their career.”
Moxley spent the past two seasons as an assistant for the Buckeyes, who went 35-31-7 over that time. For Buffalo State's release on coach Moxley's hiring click HERE.
MacKenzie came to Ohio State prior to last season and helped coach the Buckeyes to a 19-15-3 overall record. For UConn's release on coach MacKenzie's hiring click HERE.
