Schmitts Earn All-WCHA Recognition

COLUMBUS, Ohio - Kari Schmitt and Sara Schmitt, junior defensemen on the Ohio State women's hockey team, have been named All-WCHA for the 2013-14 season. The awards were announced by the Western Collegiate Hockey Association today at a league awards ceremony held in Bemidji, Minn., in conjunction with the WCHA FINAL FACE-OFF tournament championship.
Kari earned All-WCHA Second Team recognition while Sara was named All-WCHA Third Team. It is the first WCHA honors for the sisters from Canton, Mich.
In 26 WCHA contests this season, Kari recorded 15 points on four goals and 11 assists. She had 23 points on nine goals and 14 assists in 35 games played overall in 2013-14. She was 16th in the nation for defensemen scoring.
Sara tallied 19 points on six goals and 13 assists in 27 league games and was Ohio State's second-leading scorer overall with 28 points on seven goals and 21 assists. She was tied for fifth nationally in defensemen scoring.
The duo currently sits 8-9 all-time at Ohio State in career scoring for defensemen with Sara at 61 career points and Kari 57.
